Let us make it a part of our everyday striving to open our hearts to the Spirit.

Manual 2; Supplement from ''Opening Our Hearts''
by Gerald N. Lund

Today I should like to speak on the importance of opening our hearts to the Holy Spirit.

After baptism we are confirmed and given the Holy Ghost. This is a supernal gift. The Holy Ghost comforts, teaches, warns, enlightens, and inspires us. Nephi put it very simply: "If ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do."1 We need the help of the Holy Ghost if we are to make our way safely through what the Apostle Paul called the "perilous times"2 in which we now live.

God is our Heavenly Father and we are His children. He loves us and wants us to be successful in this life and to return to live in His presence.

God is your Father in Heaven (Matthew 6:9). We call God Heavenly Father because He is the Father of our spirits and we are created in His image (Genesis 1:27).

The importance of our physical bodies

"The Prophet Joseph Smith taught with clarity this importance of our physical bodies: "We came to this world for we can have a body and present it pure before God in the celestial kingdom. The great principle of happiness consists in having a body. The devil has no body, and here is your punishment. He is pleased when he can get the body of man, and when he was driven by the Savior he asked to go to the herd of pigs, showing that he would prefer a pig's body to having none. All beings who have bodies have power over those who do not. The devil has no power over us only because we allow it, at the time of the revolt at anything which comes from God, the devil has power". (Teachings of Presidents of the Church - Joseph Smith [2007], 211, 214)"

Helping Haiti One By One

06:25 Posted by: Mormon Missionary 0 comments

‘Mormons’ and ‘Service’ are synonymous. When tragedy strikes, no matter when or where, you can bet a group of Mormons will be on the next plane bringing truckloads of blankets, sanitation kits, food, clothing, medical supplies and volunteers. Local Mormon leaders, missionaries and congregations will be coordinating the efforts, and the local Mormon churches will immediately become a designated shelter.

"Helping Hands"

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hailed as having one of the best organized Humanitarian Aid Services in the world. But Latter-day Saints don’t wish to trump their own horn. They desire to serve quickly, quietly and efficiently. They strive to follow the example of Jesus, taking care of His children “one by one“.

The Scriptures

09:28 Posted by: Mormon Missionary 0 comments

The Scriptures Are available to us Today

What are some of blessings we enjoy today because the scriptures are so accessible?

When the servants of Lord speech or write under the influence of Holy Ghost, his words becomes scriptures (see D&C 68:4). Since the beginning the Lord ordered to His prophets who kept records of his revelations and of His interactions with His sons. He said: "For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written" (2 Nephi 29:11).

The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints accept four books as scripture: The Holy Bible, The Book Of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. These books are called of standard-works of Church. The words inspired of prophets living are accepted like scriptures also.

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible is a collection of holy writings containing God revelations to the men. These writings cover many centuries, since the time of Adam until the time when the Apostles of Jesus Christ lived. These revalations was written by many prophets that lived in differents seasons of history of world.

The Holy Bible is divided into its sections: The Old and New Testaments. Many prophecies in the Old Testament foretell the coming of a Savior and Redeemer. The New Testament speak about the life of this Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

It also narrates the establishment of His Church in those days "We believe the Bible to be the descriptive word of God, since it is translated correctly" (Articles of Faith 1:8).

Through Joseph Smith, the Lord, expanded our understanding of some passages of the Bible that had been lost or changed after the original words were written. These corrections inspired, are called of Translating of Joseph Smith of Bible. Some selected passages of Translating of Joseph Smith of Bible can be found in the Guide to Study of Scriptures.

The Book Of Mormon

The Book Of Mormon is a holy record of some people that lived in the american continents between nearly 2000 B.C and 400 A.C. They have the fulness of gospel of Jesus Christ (see D&C 20:9; 42:12; 135:3). The Book of Mormon speech about the visit of Jesus Christ to peoples of America after His Ressurrection.

SALT LAKE CITY 13 January 2010 In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is mobilizing resources to address the most pressing needs of the people in the Caribbean nation. Images of collapsed buildings and devastated families tell the story of the widespread destruction. Two planes, one departing from Denver as early as Thursday and another leaving from Miami later this week, will each include over 80,000 pounds of food and emergency resources such as tents, tarps, water filtration bottles and medical supplies donated by the Church. Transportation is being provided by Airline Ambassadors and Food for the Poor will aid with distribution in Haiti. “We are constantly assessing needs to determine how our resources can directly help the people of Haiti,” said Nate Leishman, manager of the Church’s humanitarian emergency response efforts. “We are fully committed to this ongoing process and doing our best to help wherever we can.” These new shipments are in addition to emergency supplies, including personal hygiene kits and supplies for newborns, being sent by truck from the Dominican Republic, as announced early Wednesday by the Church. “We express our sympathy and prayers on behalf of the citizens of Haiti following the recent devastating earthquake,” said Kim Farah, Church spokesperson. All Latter-day Saint missionaries serving in the country are safe, and Church leaders continue efforts to account for Church members in the area. Donations for relief efforts can be made at http://give.lds.org/emergencyresponse.

06:49 Posted by: Mormon Missionary 0 comments

It was we'd necessary for a Savior and a Leader

Why we needed to get out of our Heavenly Father? Why do we need a Savior?

When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (see Job 38:7).

We understand that we had to leave the heavenly home for a while. We wouldn't living in presence our Heavenly Father. While we were away from Him. All of us would commit sins and some would be missed. The Heavenly Father knew and loved all of us and knew we needed help, so devised a way of helping us.
